This past weekend was the McNay Museum Art Fair.
Getting to San Antonio in the first week of March, 2015, was a challenge for
pretty much everyone, but it was wonderful once we were there. Mostly it was in the 50s with a soft rain on
Sunday – perfect weather for the McNay Art Museum’s fair.
Our New York/Art Students League wall featured
work by Peggy Bacon, Will Barnet, and Isabel Bishop. There was also interest in
William Baziotes, Howard Daum, Claire Mahl Moore, Anne Ryan, and Louis Schanker.
Paintings in the museum’s mid-twentieth century
American room change often, but it’s great to see their Ben Shahn Sing
Sorrow, 1946, year after year. Among the special exhibitions was Rodin to Warhol: 60th Anniversary Gifts,
with works by Dorothy Dehner, Angelo
Pinto, and Anne Ryan. The Ryan was a collage, so we’re showing ours here.
